The following resources offer education, training, and technical assistance.

The National Service-Learning Exchange supports high-quality service-learning in schools, colleges and universities, and community organizations. For technical assistance, Exchange staff or peer mentors can help in the following ways: answer a question by phone or email, mentor over the course of a semester or academic year, give feedback on curriculum, discuss what has worked in their communities, and share high-quality resources and training opportunities. Professional Development CD. James Toole of the Compass Institute and the University of Minnesota created an interactive CD with three education modules of varying lengths. (90 minutes, 4 hours, and five session study group) This resource provides sample workshop titles, workshop descriptions, handouts, Powerpoint presentations, and discussion questions to use as resources for service-learning professional development. The CD is both PC and Mac compatible and is available through the National Service-Learning Partnership.

The Presenter's Toolbox: A Service-Learning Multi-Media Resource is a CD resource set to help presenters create a multimedia professional development workshop. Disk 1 provides a historical perspective, overview of research, and methods to connect service-learning to the curriculum. Disk 2 features a video highlighting service-learning success stories in Iowa schools. From the Iowa Department of Education. The CDs are PC and MAC compatible. ($18.95)

2005 Service-Learning Summer Institutes. Summer institutes play a critical role in advancing service-learning practice.

Service-Learning Teacher Education Programs. Education programs can prepare students to use service-learning as an instructional method.
