The Service-Learning Young Professionals Network (SLYPN) was created to provide young professionals (20-30-somethings) opportunities to develop the skills and capacity they need to pursue their interest in and advance their careers in service-learning. Join now to connect with ambitious, up-and-coming leaders who are committed to service-learning. SLYPN brings unprecedented access to service-learning experts, resources, and opportunities right to your fingertips.
Through SLYPN, young professionals can develop a social network, share best practices, receive professional development and career planning assistance, and interact with veteran leaders of the service-learning field. In addition to some opportunities to connect with colleagues and peers in-person, SLYPN members will have unlimited entry to an online virtual community designed especially to respond to and meet the unique needs and interests of young professionals working in the service-learning field. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to:
- Organize regional or local social networking events
- Access the latest service-learning research and resources
- Engage in dialogue with accomplished service-learning leaders
- Learn of career and grant opportunties
- Discuss current events, books, and journals with peers
- Write and publish articles for both service and educational publications
- Participate workshops that address issues key to improving and sustaining service-learning, such as:
- practice and professional development
- research
- constituency-building
- communications and visibility
- diversity change
- nonprofit management and leadership
The Organizing team comprised of fellow Service-Learning Young Professionals from the Atlantic, North Central, Pacific, Southern, and the Southwest representing community-based organizations, state education agencies, national and local service-learning youth organizations welcomes you as a new SLYPN member.
